Description

Vintage (58 yrs) Cello:
red varnish, sonorous sound, bow needs re-hairing. This is my childhood cello, but I have been a writer and painter since leaving college (1983), and although I am sentimental, I’m retired and need to down-size.  The soft case is a bit dusty from storage, and the sound post inside needs to be reset from wood’s response to northern seasonal changes, any music store can do this.  There is a 3” hairline, nearly invisible crack leading up from tail-pin area (see photo), and where the bridge slipped in removal the varnish has been nicked. #1. INNER TAGS: E.R. Pfrehschner, Mitten Wald OBB 1964. Elegant grade copy of Antony’s Stradivarius, West Germany.  #2 TAG: This instrument was constructed and shop adjusted to MENC specifications, date 4/65.  Model 50, Scherl & Roth, Inc.  Reg 511384, Roth, Cleveland.
